SAN DIEGO (AUGUST 29, 2023) – Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer and the Board of Supervisors today approved accepting the second installment of nearly 50 million ($14,356,108 per year) from the State of California to continue to expand its public health workforce. Once the vote was taken, Supervisor Lawson-Remer issued the following statement:

“Public health workers are critical to our County’s ability to keep the community healthy and informed. This second wave of funds gives our Health and Human Services Agency the ability to scale up its staffing as needed, and it will be beneficial if we ever experience another public health emergency like we did with COVID,” Supervisor Lawson-Remer said. “I want to thank Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health for being our partner in upholding our duty to protect the public’s health.”
