The San Diego Chapter of Women Leaders Association, a chapter of a national organization dedicated to rising women leaders, named San Diego Board Chair Terra Lawson-Remer and Chief Administrative Officer Ebony Shelton as top women leaders for their impact on the region and for their partnership in advancing services and initiatives that strengthen communities across San Diego County. 

“I’m incredibly grateful for this recognition by the San Diego Chapter of Women Leaders Association. This honor is a reflection of the collective efforts of my staff, community partners and the San Diego County community. It is so important to have diverse perspectives at all decision-making tables to build stronger communities’’ said Board Chair Terra Lawson-Remer. “We continue to tackle challenges facing San Diegans from homelessness, sustainable environmental policies, protecting reproductive freedom and child care. I’d like to encourage other women and community advocates to step up, get involved and continue making positive change across San Diego County.”   

The San Diego Chapter of Women Leaders Association announcement pointed out:

•  San Diego County is one of the region’s biggest ‘platforms’ — public  health, behavioral health, child welfare, land-use-adjacent decisions and safety net all live here. Terra Lawson-Remer serves as Chair of the Board of Supervisors, leading a county of 3.3 million people with a budget exceeding $8 billion. That means her influence isn’t abstract: it shows up in whether systems execute housing stability, public health strategy and coordinated responses to crises that affect employers and neighborhoods alike.

• If elected officials set direction, the Chief AO makes the machine run. Ebony N. Shelton serves as Chief Administrative Officer for the County of San Diego, placing her at the center of operational execution across departments and budgets. In a time when implementation capacity is the difference between plans and real outcomes, her leadership shapes how effectively the region delivers services that stabilize the workforce and the broader economy.”

Lawson-Remer and Shelton joined dozens of other outstanding local leaders and partners from the City of San Diego, Port of San Diego, Regional Airport Authority and more.
